What can I say about 2020? What can anyone say about 2020? It has not been the year we were hopeful for. In March, the world as we know it turned upside down. We were beginning Spring Break and gearing up for a week of Irish Dance performances to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day, when the world started shutting down. Spring Break was extended and dance performances were canceled. We were introduced to the term “Remote Learning” and everyone downloaded an app called Zoom. It has been a surreal experience, to say the least. As the next school year approached and decisions were being made on what in-person school would need to look like, it became clear that homeschooling would be the best option for our 11-year-old who has sensory processing challenges and a whimsical spirit.
We have been blessed by an abundance of friends who homeschool and have been a wealth of information and support as we dip our toes into the vast waters of this style of education. I taught preschool for many years, but teaching an 11-year-old is definitely a new experience and I thought it might be interesting and fun to document our journey through a blog. So beginning next week, we set off on the homeschool journey. I am sure it will be filled with setbacks and successes. If you are joining us on this journey, welcome! Buckle up!
